Road from Moscow to St.Petersburg by car
Road from Moscow to St.Petersburg by car
This is a very popular route in Russia, because it connects two biggest cities. Now there are two routes in one M10 (freeway) and M11 (toll way)
This post for all drivers who don’t know these short 700 kilometers. Slide route by region.
Moscow ring road - Moscow region
Yandex and Google maps will advise you start you way on toll road M11. Don’t believe them, it is expensive (450 rubles for 40 kilometers) and stupid. All traffic jams will wait you after this track in Klin. This part of route has two lanes and a lot of traffic lights and speed radars.
Tver’ region — М11
One of most comfortable piece of the route. Road is wide and hasn’t a radars.
Be careful on Tver’s road! They use remote speed radar!
There is a fork after Tver between two routes – M10 and M11!

I strongly recommend choose toll road M11. This is 122 kilometers best road with speed limit 110 – 130 km per hour only for 360 rubles! Without traffic lights and traffic jams!
Also I recommend cafe on this route. Coffee is real good!
One part of this route is new. Google maps doesn’t know about this way yet
Novgorod region
It’s the most difficult part of route. The one and half lane is terrible. Vehicle are slow, and you are slow too. The exception is 50 kilometers road near Novgorod.
Leningrad region
Yeah! Our goal is so close. Too much villages, too much speed radars, too much vehicle are in this region. But we have wide road and interesting views.
Thank you for reading and have a good luck on the road!
